Overview

Flagger Force, an industry leader in traffic control, is currently hiring for a Safety Internship. This position will be based out of our central PA market. 

 

The Safety Intern will assist the Safety Department in observing work sites, supporting safety initiatives, and learning about occupational safety practices in a real-world environment. This short-term internship provides hands-on experience in an outdoor setting with jobsites that change on a daily or frequent basis. The Safety Intern will learn each Field role at Flagger Force, apply their current education while observing work rules and sequences, and learn how to apply their education to real world challenges from seasoned Safety Professionals. All tasks will be completed while reinforcing the company’s values, vision, and mission.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Safety Professionals in observing and documenting work site safety practices.
  • Support with reports, logs, and data entry and review related to incidents and audits.
  • Participate in training sessions, safety meetings, and customer visits to gain exposure.
  • Contribute to the development of safety content and materials as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of the Safety Department.

In addition to the functions listed above, the intern is expected to act in accordance with company values, vision and mission, exercise honesty, integrity and respect with all clients and co-workers, demonstrate leadership, maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, demonstrate a positive attitude, communicate effectively with co-workers and clients, work with accuracy, efficiency and close attention to detail, maintain good attendance by working when and where directed, respect the work environment and keep it as neat and clean as possible, and exercise initiative to learn new skills and tasks and to help co-workers when possible. The intern is also expected to perform such other duties and functions as required from time to time.

 

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or associate degree program in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Safety, Risk Management, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Valid driver's license in accordance with Flagger Force motor vehicle record standards
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and manage time effectively
  • Ability to manage high stress scenarios and environments
  • Proficient computer literacy; experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
